Also here's some vocab words for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mods you might find useful:
Mod is an all-encompassing phenomenon. Every pack or vasyanka is a mod, but not every mod is a pack or vasyanka.
Examples: any mod.
So for example OP is in several categories at once. This is once a pack of different single-type add-on for Narodnaya Solyanka,
it is partly Solyanka itself by definition, and partly vasyanka according to the fans of NS.
Vanilla - the original version of the mod or the game itself, which has no third-party edits.
Example: Call of Chernobyl 1.4.22, Call of Pripyat 1.6.02.
Packs - as a rule, subject to a single concept of the same type of elements. Can be used in any of the categories, created specifically for it, or exist as a standalone mod.
For example: the texture pack, the weapon pack, the music pack.
Addons - represents a modification that is created for another modification. It is created for this very purpose and has a clear concept from a weapon pack to a global mod.
Examples: The Armed Zone, Gunslinger Npc Rework Addon, Search for Chernobyl Chess Player, Geonezis addon
Addon Pack - is usually the quintessence of other modifications with minimal or no copyright edits. Such modifications can not be less than three. Global concept only one:
to please yourself, or to please the players, collecting the most acceptable modification on their own discretion / opinion of the community.
Examples: Град обречённый, Escape from Pripyat.
Adaptation - combines one modification with another in a single copy as a rule, the author's changes are usually absent, even if they present,
they still subordinate to the existing concept/ways, such as a freeplay mod and hardcore mod = hardcore freeplay mod.
Examples: SGM+Atmosfear 3, Call of Misery
Solyanka - it is usually the quintessence of other modifications, but in the presence of copyright edits that affect them, they sometimes change what is absorbed in it beyond recognition,
or uses the well-known additions to implement their own gameplay features and story.
Examples: NS.
Vasyanka - mods with superficial gameplay, it is made hastily, without global concept with a large number of errors, both spelling and syntax in Lua and/or C++,
or it distorts the global concept of another mod, deteriorates its technical part. Anything from a failed adaptation to an author's project, build or addon can fall into this category.
Examples: Чудесный кристалл, дарованный звёздами, Hibernation Evil, SGM+Gunslinger, Misery+Gunslinger, Mystery of Agroprom.
Trash is a mod with a deliberate bias toward delusional gaming conventions and the grotesque. Don't confuse them with vasyankas, it's a separate art form.
Examples: Unleashed Sidorovich Fury, Reborn, Pepel mod, Time of Alliance.
Global mod - it has a lot of author's innovations, there is a global concept, according to which the vast majority of the game mechanics are affected.
Examples: NLC, Lost Alpha, OLR.
Short mod - the mod, the quests' of which can be complete in several hours, they are often made based on the original game, or it is adapted to undemanding and easy to connect mods.
Examples: Spatial Anomaly, Contract for the Good Life
